Founded by principal designer Celeste Varro, MERIDIAN Interiors is a Charleston-based studio with a singular philosophy: that the most extraordinary spaces are built on restraint, not excess. We source rare materials, commission artisan craftspeople, and approach every project as a long-term creative partnership — not a transaction.

Our work has been recognised by the leading voices in design publishing because we do not follow trends. We follow the light in a room, the history of a building, and the lived rituals of the people within it.

A bespoke design concept is developed — materials sampled, artisans selected, architectural modifications proposed. Nothing generic, nothing off-the-shelf.

We manage every trade, every delivery, every detail. Our trusted network of craftspeople and contractors has been curated over a decade of exacting work.

Installation & Reveal

The final installation is a considered composition — every object placed, every light adjusted. We don't hand over a room. We reveal a world.

MERIDIAN

We are selective about the projects we accept — not to be exclusive, but to be exceptional. These are the questions we hear most.

We accept a maximum of twelve commissions per year. This is a deliberate choice — not a limitation. Every client on our roster receives Celeste's personal creative direction and the full attention of the studio team throughout the project lifecycle.
MERIDIAN works across three primary categories: high-end residential renovation (primary residences, vacation estates, and historic properties), boutique hospitality (hotels, members clubs, restaurants), and architectural fit-out in partnership with luxury developers and architects. We do not undertake partial or consultancy-only engagements — we are a full-service studio.
Our studio is rooted in Charleston, SC, and we work extensively throughout the Southeast — Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida. For exceptional commissions, we travel nationally and, on occasion, internationally. If your project is right, geography is never an obstacle.
We believe the best client relationships begin with shared values — a genuine appreciation for craft, a willingness to invest in quality over speed, and a spirit of creative trust. We invite prospective clients to begin with a conversation. If the project and partnership feel right, we will know.
Timelines vary considerably by scope. A single room or suite may take four to six months. A full primary residence renovation typically requires twelve to twenty-four months from initial commission to final installation. We will not rush the work — and we believe you will be glad of that when you live in the result.
Absolutely. Some of our most rewarding work has been in deep collaboration with architects who share our commitment to precision and beauty. We are accustomed to working within existing design frameworks while contributing a distinct interior voice that elevates the overall project.
